analysis of past student work
while researching for out thriller opening we have started to look back at past student work. This thriller is a good thriller all together. using a good range of different camera angles and fast editing to build up suspense. also it is clear that they took time to think of good locations to use and because of this it builds the correct atmosphere. over all this is a very effective thriller.

Maguffin
A muggifin, sometimes known as mcguffin is a plot device where an object of value is presented and the main characters try to obtain it.The maguffin is has no real importance in the story apart from motivating the characters and advancing the story. often films will use power, money and survival as the maguffin.

Call sheet dilemma
Our group were supposed to start filming a scene for our thriller opening today, but a member of our group was unable to attend today as well some of the resources we needed for that particular scene were not avalible to us today. Our group has decided that we will be moving the date we film to next wednesday as this gives us more time to sort out any problems we might face with the attendance of people in our thriller and also gives us more time to acquire the resources needed for the scene.

Music used in our thriller
we have considered the music that we would use for out thriller. We can not use any copyrighted music for our thriller so we have looked at alternatives free to use music sources. We have been introduced to the free music site MobiGratis, which provides non copyright music for non profit/student films.I have signed up for the site and now we, in our group are looking at what we Music we might use in our thriller opening. For the begging of the thriller we would like to have something upbeat as we are having people play football in the begging, when the kidnapping of our main character happens we plan on using something more dramatic.
Risk Assesment
Before we begin filming our thriller we must first think about the risk to health and safety when filming each scene. We need to think about our location and how we can keep everyone safe.We are filming out doors in a park meaning that we will have to look at things like the weather and the area we film in.If we have to film on a day when it has been raining heavily then instead of the risk of someone slipping and injuring themselves on the grass we must reschedule for another day.

Sabotage (1953 Alfred Hitchcock) analysis
An example of suspense and shock is seen in Alfred Hitchcock's Sabotage. In the scene that I watched in class a undercover agent has sent away a Film reel to a young boy to be delivered to a cinema at a specific time.In the film container there is a bomb. the boy is unaware of the bomb he is carrying and encounters a number of situations that hold him up.This brilliantly shows both shock and suspense as the audience is at the edge of their seats wondering if the boy will make it on time and be saved. the shock for this scene is when the boy is waiting on the bus and unfortunately does not manage to make it on time. This shocks the audience as the death of the young boy is quite dark and also the audience becomes attached to the boy and they hope that he survives.
Children of men analysis
The opening to the film "Children of men" would be a great example of suspense. the begging of the film establishes that the film takes place in the future with the news of youngest persons death "baby Diego". the year is 2027 and people have lost the ability to reproduce. The intro starts with the protagonist in a coffee shop hearing new of the dead, he then leaves the shop.Up to this point nothing out of the ordinary has happened and no danger has been applied, when the main characters is walking away from the coffee shop, a explosion comes from the coffee shop killing every one inside. this intro keep everything normal until the last minute catching them off guard.
Suspense and shock
Suspense and shock are meant to lead the audience on and keep them asking what will happen and to surprise the audience and catch them off guard. An example of a suspense could be if a scene started off in an ordinary place for example a office, in the office every on is carrying on as normal with work, but then the camera reveal a bomb with a timer counting down under someone's desk. this would be an example of suspense, it leaves the audience wondering if someone will manage to find and stop the bomb in time, or will the bomb go off and kill everyone in the office. An example of shock would be a similar scenario to suspense except in this scenario the audience would not know about the bomb untill it had gone off, catching the audience y surprise and shocking them.
Aspects of a Thriller
The genre of thriller includes many different aspects from other genres, which is why it is very difficult to describe the aspects of a thriller. the purpose of a thriller is to bring suspense to the audience, to have them sitting at the edge of their seats.Thrillers do this by including these factors that are commonly found in all thrillers, these factors are chase scenes, fight scenes, kidnappings, murder, red herrings, plot twists and cliffhangers. These aspects are just a small number that can be included with in a thriller
